With a surge of new clientele, a handful key asset purchases and few strategic tweaks to the Klassic Sound infrastructure, 2011 proved to be an extraordinary year for the Baltimore, MD and Washington DC event production company. The company established several great new relationships with partner companies, as well as new employees. They brought successful productions to exciting venues including Capitol Hill, Freedom Plaza, the National Mall, the Smithsonian, and the Presidents Park on White House lawn, just to name a few. Not only did the company see a great increase in overall business, but they were able to increase their quality of service while doing so.
Klassic Sound geared up for the year by moving into a new, bigger warehouse facility, located in Baltimore, Maryland. This was a crucial move, allowing them to properly organize and maintain their ever-growing inventory. With their wings spread, day to day operations became much more efficient, and they began to flourish in the fast paced audio and event production industry. The next big move was the purchase of a 26’ diesel box truck, equipped with an extended hydraulic lift gate. The truck proved to be a game changer for Klassic Sound allowing far less time and personnell to be utilized prepping, running, and de-prepping jobs. “I was a little worried I was biting off more than I could chew with the purchase of such a big vehicle,” said owner Mike Klass, “but looking back, the reward has far outweighed the risk, and I don’t know how we used to operate without it.”
Amongst their new home and vehicle, Klassic Sound landed a few great jobs which helped everything make sense. Memorial Day weekend was spent juggling The Maryland Zoo’s Brew at the Zoo in Baltimore, MD and a Memorial Day prayer at the Ellipse in Washington DC, along with a couple area weddings. July 4 included a stage and sound system for Fort Meade’s Independence Day celebration, with over 25,000 people in attendance. Klassic Sound contributed sound and staging services for Serve DC’s September 11 remembrance event held at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, and for Harley Davidson’s 9/11 ride in Baltimore, MD. The year rounded out with a concert sound system and backline for the American Turkish Association’s, DC Turkish Festival, staging and a public address system for the City of Alexandria’s Police Headquarter’s Grand Opening, and a concert sound system for an Eric Benet concert at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC.
Klassic Sound is looking forward to continuing to thrive in 2012. They understand that it’s not only about the quantity of business they bring in, but the quality of service they put out. Besides a few exciting additions to the in house inventory, the company plans to add an instrumental position or two to their full time staff. “It’s one thing to be able to provide all the bells in whistles that will meet a technical rider or accommodate an international touring act, but if a company’s infrastructure is not set-up in a way that allows efficient communication with clients and ensures that the smallest detail will not be overlooked, that company is setting themselves up for failure, especially in this business,” said owner Mike Klass. “We are excited to be building a team and a tailoring a system that allows us to embrace those minute details, helping each client and making every job feel as just important as the next one!”
